New mall opening in Seneca Meadows

Blog Shops 2

There’s a big construction project underway in Seneca Meadows, but you might have missed it so far. Tucked into the Seneca Meadows neighborhood of Germantown, The Shops at Seneca Meadows is going to be home to a variety of shops and restaurants.

Construction crews are projected to complete The Shops at Seneca Meadows in Mid-2013. Even with common perceptions of construction and requisite delays, the buildings seem to be well on their way to being done in time for next Spring or Summer.

Parked in between Route 118/Germantown Rd and Father Hurley Blvd, The Shops at Seneca Meadows will be in direct competition with The Milestone Center. Not lost on anyone is the fact that The Shops will be literally across the street from Milestone.

A 200,000 square foot Wegmans, the first in Montgomery County, will headline the Shops at Seneca Meadows. Wegmans joined the project early and is accompanied by several retail and restaurants.

The center will have a total of four buildings for shops and restaurants, one being utilized by Wegmans and the others being used by several different companies. Others include, but are not limited to, Panera Bread, Bubbles Salon, Famous Dave’s, Mattress Discounters, Sprint, and Café Rio.

Milestone Center is best known for having the retail and grocery giants Wal-Mart, Target, and Giant.  Adding The Shops at Seneca Meadows brings Germantown another option to add the, sometimes overwhelming, myriad of choices for residents.

Wegmans brings with it a loyal following, and might enable the center to compete successfully with other shopping centers. In sheer magnitude, The Shops at Seneca Meadows at 1 million square feet will dwarf most others, including the 800,000 square foot Milestone Center adjacent.
